Abstract
One of the integral typical peculiarities of the traditional Chinese culture is a mutually complementing synthesis of the Confucian humanism and the Tao naturalism. The Confucian doctrine positions a human being into the center of philosophy whilst in the center of the Tao doctrine there is nature. The Chinese philosophy has been affected by both these doctrines. Parallel to two these philosophical approached the Chinese culture accentuates a concept of “harmonious but not identical” i. e. joined. “Harmony” means a concordant existence of a multitude of various things. “Identical” means a mechanical combination of things similar in their nature. The philosophy of being “harmonious-though-heterogeneous” requires an equilibrium besides a multiplicity. Otherwise stated it predetermines gauging things differing in their nature in accordance with each other and establishing an equilibrium for the sake of obtaining a unity through multiplicity. Such a philosophy positively affects the development of the national culture and the absorption of alien cultures.
