Abstract
The article is devoted to the foreign language education. It focuses on the main necessary conditions for the successful teaching of the self-study in a course of a foreign language in culture and art higher education institutions. The concrete example of realization of this approach carried out in the edition of the curriculum intended for students of the Faculty of Economics and Tourism.
