Abstract
The article provides a critical assessment of the problem of interpreting the process of individualization, which is defined in sociological theories from the end XIX early XX century in the works: E. Durkheim, M. Weber, G. Mead, H. Blumer, R. Linton and others. Much attention is given to the interpretation and verification theoretical construct - "activity", concepts of individual, social and collective activity, social status and role. The need is stressed to employ developing a sociological concept of individual activity.
