Abstract
In the past there had been three paradigms to predetermine the studies of religion: hermeneutic-phenomenological, positive-naturalist, and integral-psychological. Each one disposes of its specific peculiarities tied to ontology, etics, epistemology, and methodology. Along the past one hundred years the Western researches of the religion psychology’s history there dominated a positive naturalist paradigm. It was little fit for the studies of etics and values, and little sensitive to the new scientific ideas. In this junction it would be desirable to move from a methodology centered approach to the focus on the psychologist of religion object of studies, i. e. religious traditions and human beings, recommending a broader application of the qualitative approaches. The Chinese psychologists might have written a history of the religion psychology in China from the Chinese point of view, entering into a conversation with the West. In the Chinese context the most fruitful is the narrative approach.
