Abstract
The article analyzes the current state of legal education in the Russian society. It is noted that since the early 2000s. there is, on the one hand, a surplus of holders of diplomas in this area, and on the other hand - an acute shortage of highly qualified lawyers. The explanation of this and other paradoxes of legal education, the ways of its improvement.
