Abstract
Since the period of industrialization the labour research in Korea has been maintained by public sociology. Proceeding from the scopes and objectives of marketization in the Southern Korean public sociology of labour one might single out three main periods. Prior to `1987 there existed an authoritarian regime. Then there followed a movement for democratization and a great labour uprise in 1987. They were changed with an economic crisis in 1997.
