Abstract
Sociologist, in his professional activities, has to deal with large volumes of constantly changing information, analyzes the reasons of these changes, draws conclusions, and proposes recommendations. Carrying out the full-fledged studies of this kind is impossible without the use of mathematical methods and modern information technologies. Therefore, in the training of sociologists, along with the study of humanitarian subjects, great attention must be paid to the mathematical competence of students. This article is devoted to discussing the problems associated with the difficulties of mastering mathematical disciplines by students-sociologist. Possible ways of their solution are suggested.
