Пулькин Максим Викторович, родился 10 апреля 1968 г. в Петрозаводске. В 1985 г. поступил на исторический факультет Петрозаводского университета. С 1986 по 1988 гг. служил в Советской Армии (РВСН). В 1992 г. с отличием закончил исторический факультет. В этом же году принят на работу в Институт языка, литературы и истории Карельского научного центра РАН. С 1992 по 1995 г. обучался в аспирантуре Санкт-Петербургского Института истории РАН. В 1995 г., после защиты кандидатской диссертации, вновь принят на работу в сектор истории ИЯЛИ КарНЦ РАН. В настоящее время — старший научный сотрудник этого же института. С сентября 2013 г. по совместительству доцент кафедры гуманитарных дисциплин Петрозаводской государственной консерватории.
